In January, I planned to-
1. Redesign the blog. Have been putting a ton of hours into this (I'd guess-timate somewhere around 20 hours at least) but I'm not quite done or ready to unveil it yet. It's coming though- promise!
2.
3. Continue working to complete our gallery wall - complete one painting. Fail.
4. Tie up all the loose ends in our bedroom. I at least got the knobs on the night stands...
5.
After posting these goals last month, I saw Kim at Newly Woodward's format for her monthly goals and loved it. She was inspired by Elise Blaha of Enjoy It blog. I think it's a great format- no more than 5 focused goals and a photo to go along with it. I plan to adopt this now for my monthly lists as well. With that in mind- here's February's list-
1. Let's just get the shower done with already! I'd love to get the doors up too but let's set low goals- after all, we will be away for almost 2 weeks of this month!
2. It's time to put a little focus on my appearance. I've never been a super put together person. I usually wear what's comfortable, throw my hair in a ponytail and slap on some mascara. I'm pretty low key and low maintenance. I doubt that will change but I'd like to put in some effort. Cut my hair. Wear my contacts. Apply makeup. Buy a few new pieces for my wardrobe. I'm worth it.
3. As part of my new year's resolutions, I like to focus on learning something new. This month it will be photography. I want to learn my camera. I've found a few great tips already on other blogs and I purchased a Groupon for an online learn your DSLR class. I want to take the time to at least start that class this month. Florida should give me lots of photo opportunities!
4. Finish this web coding business. It's dragging on too long and I'm losing motivation. I want to finish the redesign so I can focus that time back to blogging and house projects again.
What are you guys all striving to accomplish this month? I find writing this out and commiting to a few goals really helps me. Any big plans for the weekend? The Super Bowl? We're hosting a party on Sunday so I'll be cleaning and prepping for that along with a baby shower on Sunday.

I really need to focus on my appearance too! I never wear make up outside of special occasions and my hair is my enemy. Over the last year I've done ok at getting together a work wardrobe that I like and is comfy (so I actually wear it rather than reaching for an ugly old faithful) but my head and hair is still a mess!
ReplyDeleteI'm a mess too! I really need to work on the comfy but professional wardrobe and the hair and makeup can definitely use some work! Glad I'm not alone though! haha
DeleteI'm not a super put together person either... don't wear make up, never do anything to my hair, etc. I do wear my contacts though, but only because I find glasses uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI used to wear my contacts all the time. Then I got glasses I liked and I wore them everyday and I'm too lazy to put my contacts in. haha. I want to get back into that habit though!
DeleteEveryone seems to be in the same boat about being put together. I don't wear makeup, and my hair is usually up, unless I get the motivation to straighten it, and I ALWAYS wear my contacts because I HATE my glasses. I think I'm going to try to straighten my hair more, and get a much needed trim. Here is my kick in the pants.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your goals! I should really start setting some monthly goals...
I may just get my hair cut tomorrow... I need a kick in the pants! haha.
DeleteMonthly goals really are helping me stay on track, even if I don't get them all done!
Good luck with this month's plans. I'm excited to see the new look on the blog =) I need to make a post like this ASAP!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see it done too! haha. I'm getting pretty sick of working on it!
DeleteI need to focus on my appearance, too. I rarely wear make up or do anything with my hair other than throw it into a messy bun.
ReplyDeleteI also LIVE IN SWEATERS. I love layers.
I'm the same. Well I swipe on mascara and wear lip gloss but that's it. I don't even go to the effort of a messy bun... haha.
DeleteI also live in sweaters. Layers are awesome. And warm.
I need to learn my camera also! I spent all this money on a nice camera that has been in auto for 90% of the time. Let me know if you find any good classes!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! So expensive and I haven't even taken mine out of auto yet!
DeleteWill do! I hope my Groupon classes are good!
Can you share the other blogs that you found DSLR tips on? I just bought a camera last month and I have been searching for blogs like that!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely I can! I will put a post together about helpful photography sites as I find them : ) I just need to remember where I read a few... haha
DeleteGreat goals! I think this will keep you plenty busy this month, but will also be attainable. The perfect balance.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be kept busy this month with these! We're gone for half the month so that doesn't leave much time for these things... haha.
DeleteGood luck with your goals! You can do it!! I seriously need to figure out how to take some decent pictures with my camera!
ReplyDeleteThanks Whitney! I hope so! I'll post about anything helpful I find regarding cameras!
DeleteI love your to do list for February! I definitely love that you want to focus on yourself too. It's something that I've been trying to work on too! Can't wait to see the finished bathroom!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley! It's definitely something I struggle with. I'm usually busy with other things or people. I have done pretty well with this so far though... haha. Feels good to be selfish for a little while!
DeleteGood list. The coding and web design is taking us forever too. I'm not too worried about the html and css, it's the actual design that's taking a while. I can't settle on anything. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI have definitely struggled with the actual design concept too. I've changed my mind like 20 times! The html and css is sometimes limiting my ideas too though. I'm getting better so I guess that's what counts. Good luck with your redesign!
DeleteI just started really wearing makeup... I hate and love it at the same time haha. And it's weird to me to get to wear "nice" clothes (since there is no more danger of poop getting on my clothes... at work anyway!), but Forrest seems to like it! And I love your goals! Have you decided on a haircut yet?
ReplyDeleteI find I feel much better about myself with make up and nice clothes on. I did decide on a haircut and made the chop a few weeks ago!
DeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea!! I just might steal it!
ReplyDeleteAs for your goals:
1. I can't wait to see the finished product! It's making me so excited to start out bathroom remodel!
2. You ARE worth it! I'm trying to make my wardrobe more "grown-up" and more multifunctional (buying pieces I can wear to work with dress pants and out with jeans).
3. I haven't taken photos of anything but the deck in SO LONG! I need to get on that!
4. Our computer has a serious virus (as in won't even turn on), so until that gets fixed our blog redesign/moving to .org can't happen... but I can't wait to see yours!!
PS. That's a great picture of Jixer! She's so beautifyl!
Feel free to steal it! I borrowed it as well- haha.
DeleteI am working on the same thing with my wardrobe! Hope you get that virus taken care of soon : ( That's awful!
And thanks- we think Jixer's pretty cute too! haha
